Writers write, right?
I've been struggling with this blog and what to do with it.
Don't get me wrong -- I love blogging and the people that I've met and hope to meet.
I feel like I have this pretend life with all of these amazing smart talented friends.
There is tons of stuff I'd like to write about, but I'm mindful of my family, friends and job(s).
I keep making noises about wanting to write, but I'm not even sure what that means.
I cranked out a 2000 word column yesterday for the Gazette and I'm working on several music pieces for NUVO, but somehow don't feel like a writer.
I've decided to give myself a little homework assignment and you all are going to have to suffer through it.
I'm going to try to write a post everyday. And the theme of October is numbers.
I'm not a numbers person at all. Don't like 'um, avoid 'um at all costs.
Today's number is ONE, ONE theme with ONE goal...trying not to drive you all away.
Won't this be fun?

Ken Jackson, a mystery book writer and a newspaper editor once said to me: "Do you write? Then you're a writer." He also told me that he was invited to lecture at a few college writing classes and the first thing he told the students was: "Get out of here and go write. Everyone has their own style and you need to discover yours. The only person or persons you need to please with your writing is you."
Nora, I'm really looking forward to your numbers.
I've been making a living writing for 9 years now and still feel like I don't know what I want to write, or what my style is.
When I figure it out, that's when it'll get boring and I won't want to do it anymore.
Have fun!
